I am an earth walker. I listen to the heartbeat of my mother Earth, and sing her sweet song back to her. I dance barefoot on her back, and I sing to the moon and to the trees. I breathe in the magic of the rustling leaves, and drink the nectar of the sun. I believe that water is the greatest gift on earth, and that speaking kind words to it, and to each other is one of the most powerful acts we can do to carry us into our new earth. I believe that there is no place better than here, and no time better than now. and that what we are searching for has been here all along. Sometimes it just takes a bit of angst, tears, and emotional impromptu dance sessions for the unmasking to take place. My music is my jigsaw piece of the global puzzle. And as we each work on our own pieces, it comes together to create one of the most epic shifts our galaxy has ever experienced: The global warming of hearts and climate change of human consciousness. I hope that the music I make may awaken a feeling in you that reminds you that we are all more alike than we are different. And that you may see that your true self is as powerful and mystical as all of the stars in the Algonquin night sky. So astonishingly magnificent, simply because they exist. This is my gift to you. And I promise that I will not stop until our new world is here.
From my heart to yours,
WILD won the award for Best Emerging Artist at the 2019 International Contact Dance Film Fest. I wrote the song behind the film on a walk to the river near my house, on a windy summers night. It came from the shining moonlight through the leaves, the rushing of the water, and the song of the wind. I was in a clouded headspace with some things going on in my life at the time, and that river always brings me back to a place of peace and surrender within myself. The video was conceptualized rather spontaneously, where I called my cinematographer friend Graeme up, and my dancer friend Alina, and asked them if they wanted to shoot this little dance film. The concept being an improvised dance piece representing the relationship between mother Earth, and Humanity, from the moment it began, until now. They were both down, without knowing that we had to hike a ridiculously steep and muddy mountain-side to get to the water fall where we were shooting, on a very cold November day. The water was freezing, and we had only a few more minutes left to catch the right light, so the adrenaline kicked in, we danced, and what you see is what came out. I am eternally grateful for Graeme and Alina, for their willingness to hop on board with my crazy ideas, and for their resilience shooting in less than ideal conditions. It takes a team!
